Privacy Policy & Support
Effective August 16, 2026
This policy explains how MA Software LLC handles information when you use the Fretboard Theory application, website, or browser-based app. It applies to the desktop and mobile versions of Fretboard Theory and the public website.
Information we collect
Fretboard Theory does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal data through the app. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, telemetry, or remote theory service.
Your selected key, scale, tuning, theme, layout, metronome preference, audio output choice, progression drafts, and saved workspaces are stored locally so the app can reopen where you left off. This information does not leave your device. Removing the app or clearing its local data removes it.
The app does not require access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, or other sensitive device data. Dry DI output is synthesized locally and does not record the room.
Website data
The website does not use advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, or marketing cookies. The live web app stores its state locally in your browser. The hosting provider may process routine request information, such as an IP address and browser details, to deliver and secure the site. MA Software LLC does not use that information to profile visitors or advertise to them.
Purchases and external services
If you follow a purchase or download link, checkout and delivery may be handled by Gumroad. Information you provide to Gumroad is governed by Gumroad's privacy policy and is not entered into the Fretboard Theory app. Links to other websites and services are governed by those services' own policies.
Sharing and retention
Because the app does not send us personal data, MA Software LLC has no app-user personal data to sell or share and no remote app-user profile to retain. Local app and browser data remains on your device until you clear it or remove the app. Purchase records retained by a payment provider are subject to that provider's terms and legal obligations.
Children's privacy
Fretboard Theory is a general-audience music tool. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.
Your choices
You can remove locally stored app information by deleting saved workspaces, clearing the app or browser's local data, or uninstalling the app. For questions about this policy or information associated with a support request, contact us using the address below.
Contact and support

Policy changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Any future data collection will be disclosed here and in relevant store privacy information before it begins.
